Art. It's cool!

I have had a love for art for as long as I can remember. Medium, for me, has little importance. If there's something new to try, and I can find some way to use it for a creative project, something's bound to happen. Odds are I'll also find some way to create a mess out of it first, but I say that's all part of the process.

I especially love tactile mediums and creating art using my own two hands. I was inspired to try ceramics because it's a tactile form of art with a malleable substance, allowing artists to easily fix or change the material if they make a mistake.

I love pyrography (wood burning) too! I was inspired to give wood burning a try because it was something I had never tried or heard of before. After years of painting, sculpting, and drawing I was gifted the tools and decided to create a Mother's Day gift for my mom. I appreciate the delicacy and artistry of wood burning because of the permanence of the designs once they're set. That, and getting to apply artwork and designs to a wider variety of surfaces and usable, everyday items (like kitchen utensils) keep the projects interesting!

Needle felting is another seemingly uncommon 3D art form, one in which I have gained as much experience as I have accidental prods from the felting needle. It was yet another unexpected medium that drew me in with its tactile nature and ability to start easily. From there, I quickly learned how to create all kinds of items. Fuzzy friends, slippers, Christmas ornaments, you name it! Though dinosaurs appear to be the most common project I complete.

Most of my artwork is inspired by botanicals, natural scenes, and fantasy. I simply love the process of creation, and I don't feel the need to have a significant meaning behind every piece. Often my pieces are made just for the joy and fun of making something new and beautiful! Enjoy!
